Fabulous French Art Deco Cubism 18K Gold Enamel Plique Boston Bertrand Pendant ! Fully hallmarked, the bale hoop is marked with a horse head (guarantee for 18K French gold), horse head was mostly used for jewelry containing gold parts between 1838 to 1919. Marked with the lower left corner the hallmark for Arthus Bertrand. Weighs approximately 4.1 grams. Approximately 2.9 cm (1 2.3/16 inches) in width, and approximately 2 cm (12.5/16 of an inch) in height excluding attachment loop, and approximately 2.6 cm (1 inch) in height including attachment loop. Engraved in the front with the words BOSTONIA CONDITA AD 1630, which commemorates the establishment of the city of Boston, and was created to commemorate the 300 year anniversary of the city in 1930. The pendant consist of two tone blue plique enamel aka glass, a darker shade of blue as well as a light shade of blue framed within architectural structures representing the city of Boston circa 1930. Arthus Bertrand was founded in Paris 1803 by Claude Arthus Bertrand. The city of Boston was always very popular with the French particularly due to the Boston Tea Party which lead to the American Revolution and eventually to the French Revolution.
